WeatherBrains 107: Damage Surveys
WeatherBrains Episode 107 is now online (February 12, 2008). This is THE netcast audio program for people who absolutely love everything weather.
The buzz this week centers on the historic February tornado outbreak of last week. A special feature of the show is a discussion with Weather Brains very own geek Brian Peters who is part of the Quick Response Team (QRT) which has responsibility for applying the Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF-Scale) to suspected EF4 and EF5 tornadoes. Brian was activated for tornadoes in Jackson and Lawrence counties Alabama and Hardin County Tennessee. He tells us he has a lot of experience but he saw things on these tornado surveys that he has never seen before.
But we don’t stop there! Tim Simpson, meteorologist with WREG-TV in Memphis, TN, is our special guest this week. Tim was on the air during the Super Tuesday tornado outbreak which included tornadoes that struck Memphis and Jackson in West Tennessee and talks about those events.
