WeatherBrains 136: Gustav Up Close

WeatherBrains Episode 136 is now online (September 1, 2008). If you are crazy about weather, this is THE netcast audio program for you!

In a WeatherBrains first, we bring you a discussion of a tropical storm with one of our crew actually in the storm. JB and James are safely sitting in the Birmingham area, while Brian Peters is risking his life to bring you firsthand accounts of Gustav and his impact on the Alabama coast. Well, okay, perhaps risking his life is a little over the top, but it makes for a nice hook. Brian focuses on this trip to Orange Beach, Alabama, and the impact of Gustav as the storm made landfall in Southeast Louisiana.

What is Twitter? Is JB a Twitter Quitter or a Twitter Traitor? You can find out by listening and also hearing James Spann get on a rant which has JB and Brian nodding a big yes to.

James Spann skips the mail bag for this episode since we have so much tropical weather to discuss.

From The Weather Center:

WeatherBrains 101: In one of the timeliest WeatherBrains 101 segments, Professor Peters delves into the world of computer modeling for tropical systems in an attempt to unravel what goes into to making a hurricane forecast.

Listener SurveyListener Surveys: Okay, we continue to drive this topic into the ground, but we really do like to hear from you.
