Dr. Jay Trobec, KELO-TVFrom Miami to Sioux Falls: This week our motley crew of weather geeks goes north to South Dakota for a visit with Dr. Jay Trobec, chief meteorologist with KELO-TV in Sioux Falls. Unlike a lot of weather folks who recall an attraction to weather at an early age, Jay began his television career as a sportscaster in North Dakota and moved to KELO over 20 years ago. His formal credentials include the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association Broadcast Seal of Approval. Jay’s education includes a B. A. from St. John’s University, an M. A. from Mississippi State University, and Doctorate in Atmospheric, Environmental, and Water Resources from South Dakota State University.

From The Weather Center:

This Week in Weather History: Bill Murray takes a look at some weather events for this week. How about the birthday of Gustav Coriolis who was born this week in 1792? Dust storms, tornadoes, dense fog, and a volcano make up some of the facts from this week in weather history.
