On this episode we visit with Aerial Weather Reconnaissance Officer Lt. Col. Roy Deatherage.

He received his BS in Engineering from Seattle Pacific University, a BS in Meteorology from North Carolina State University and a MS in International Relations from Troy State. He is 50 years old, has been in the Air Force for 26 years. For 21 of those years he has been a Hurricane Hunter. Although he is an Air Force Reservist, he serves full time as an Air Reserve Technician, which means he does his AF Reserve job in civilian status Monday through Friday.
In order to maintain a quick response time when a tasking comes from NOAA, the 53 Weather Reconnaissance Squadron retains a number of these civilian employees, all of whom are also AF Reservists as well.
