wb120808.mp3Those crazy weather geeks from WeatherBrains are at it once again with conversation about the weather. This week there is some interesting news from the world of weather related to improvements to the next generation of weather satellites. And Dr. Tim goes on a rant about computer model guidance.
Other discussions in this weekly podcast include topics like:
Our mail bag has been getting a lot of attention and James handles the duties. Many notes came in about JB’s request for an underwear song. Work continues to get Dave Schwartz on the show. Measuring snow involves melting.
From The Weather Center:
WeatherBrains 101: A question has been posed thanks to an earlier show about the definition of “continental US.” The terminology we use in the field of meteorology is often misunderstood since there are literal meanings as well as common usage. The topic for this week is a look at the term conus or continental US and what it means.
TWIWH: Bill Murray looks back at the week of December 9th. There’s a lot of dangerous weather out there, but most people probably don’t consider fog one of them. But driving in fog, especially when the visibility varies dramatically, can be dangerous and Bill Murray has the details on one such event.
Listener Surveys: Okay, we continue to drive this topic into the ground, but we really do like to hear from you. Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to fill out the Listener Survey. The survey takes just a minute or two to complete and provides us with an opportunity to learn where you are and hear your thoughts and comments on the show. Click here to take the survey.
