WeatherBrains 99: Snow vs Blowing Snow Plus Drought Update

WeatherBrains Episode 99 is now online (December 17, 2007). This is THE netcast audio program for people who love everything weather. And only one more episode until we turn 100!!

Mr. Josh Johnson from WXIA Channel 11 in Atlanta joins us once again. Josh brings up to date on the status of the drought conditions that have threatened the water supply for Atlanta.

And snow is one of our topics as we discuss the snow cover across the US. Plus a big question about the difference between snow and blowing snow in a weather observation. This was prompted by the observation from Mount Washington, New Hampshire.

Plus some thoughts from the Weather Brains crew on the big events for them during 2007. You might be surprised what made a big event for some of the folks.

And don’t forget that the 100th episode is coming up. What are your suggestions for the show to mark this special milestone? Let us know by sending an email to question@weatherbrains.com.

  • This Week In Weather History: The week of December 18 to 24 featured some interesting weather that impacted the fledgling NFL in 1932. And many of us have heard how the weather turned the tables in war, but did you know that the Lakota Sioux Indians used weather to aide in an ambush. And what about some Christmas eve records?
