WeatherBrains 130: Spotlight on Tropics
WeatherBrains Episode 130 is now online (July 21, 2008). If you are crazy about weather, this is THE netcast audio program for you!
The Weather Brains crew brings the tropics to the forefront and puts the current tropical events in the spotlight. We’ve had three tropical storms in the month of July when on average we should see about one. Cristobal, not crystal ball, is moving away from the North Carolina Outer banks while Dolly was moving on a quick pace across the southwestern Gulf of Mexico on a track that could bring the center of the storm to the Brownsville, Texas, area. Kevin Selle is still forecasting landfall of any storm at Galveston and we feature a brief appearance of Glen Campbell. Bertha has also finally faded into the past after lingering for many, many days.
The crew also looks back at some of the adventures that occur when covering storms. James Spann has covered his share, and Brian Peters covered Hurricane Ivan on the ground at landfall plus in the air flying with the Hurricane Hunters. And some of the harrowing events that can occur come out about Ivan and the news crew that got stranded.
James Spann looks into the mailbag which continues running over with comments and questions for which we try to provide some form of reasonably intelligent answer.
